Meta’s New Terms are Underhand Theft – MOW

Meta’s new Commercial Terms are an underhand attempt to justify wholesale theft.  They’ve buried an all-encompassing set of terms into their business T&Cs which would give them a free hand to steal content from every publisher that uses a Meta product.  This is wrong on every level and we will be calling on UK and European regulators to act immediately to stop these terms from coming into effect.  If they were to be rolled out then the harm would be immediate and irreversible.

In the meantime, anyone concerned about the theft of their content by AI companies needs to implement MOW’s Search Only Contract immediately (link in comments).  This is a free-to-use set of legal terms that lets publishers quickly and easily charge AI companies for the use of their content.  The SOC acts as a shield against the changes in Meta’s terms as well as the ongoing theft of content by AI companies across the board.
